STUDIO 001 - ICFF NY, 2016

Studio 001 is a collaborative studio led by John Dixon and Stephen Slaughter funded by the University of Cincinnati. Industrial designers and architects worked together to create a brand and furniture and social media content to market the brand.  All the pieces were featured in ICFF 2017 in New York and won Editor's Award for Best School. The studio researched midwest modern, scandinavian and Japanese furniture to create a common language that all designers had to stick with. The studio was further divided into 4 categories: Outdoor, Living, Work + Live and Kitchen. The common language for the Living group was bent rod. I was inspired by the mobius strip and created a chair with a continuous rod that loops to form the seat and then loops around to create the back. And a vacuum formed plywood seat sat snug on the body. Everything was made manually by me as I experimented with different materials and their ability to take various shapes.
