Guns In America, Mixed Media, 2018

Every day, 96 Americans are killed with guns and hundred more are shot and injured. Black males are 16 times more likely than white males to be shot and injured in assaults involving guns. Firearms are the second leading cause of death for American children and teens, and the first leading cause of death for Black children and teens. Black teens are 15 times more likely that white teens of the same age to die by gun violence. The frames consist of actual individuals, that lost their lives either to gun violence, or police brutality. This installation was showcased at Mailroom NYC for the month of October, 2018. This piece is NOT intended to be hate speech or promote violence towards a particular group of people. This installation was an attack on America’s systematic oppression of certain kinds of people.
